The Open 2022: Tiger Woods' last at St. Andrews and in the world of professional golf?

Last major of the 2022 season, The Open in St. Andrews will be the scene of several crucial debates for the future of golf as Tiger Woods is preparing diligently, and with the goal of winning his 16th career major. On the sidelines of the tournament, many observers are wondering if this will be the Tiger's last appearance in a professional golf tournament? Could Woods announce his retirement on the evening of the British Open? As is often the case, all hypotheses and suppositions are on the table when it comes to the best golfer of the last thirty years.

Woods is in St. Andrews for the final golf major in 2022

Since the weekend before the tournament, the 46-year-old American has been closely followed for his return to competition. He says he is in the final stretch of his career, and in the perspective of reaching his only and true goal: To get closer to the legend Jack Nicklaus with 18 victories in the majors.

Woods in St. Andrews to try to win a British Open is already a first good news while the major will not come back in the "house of golf" before 2026 at best...and logically in 2027 (every 5 years).

By 2027, Tiger Woods will have passed the 50-year mark, and while Mickelson won a major last year after passing the 50-year mark himself, this major may be one of his last chances to win, especially since Tiger doesn't look so reassuring.
